Discover the baroque heritage of La Plagne

No fewer than 35 chapels and 11 churches are present on La Plagne’s territory. They are marked by baroque influence. By discovering these well-preserved jewels of Savoie’s heritage, you will discover the harsh life of the mountain folk in the 17th and 18th centuries, who sold their products — including their cheeses — to fund the embellishment of their places of worship.

One of the most remarkable baroque sites is the church of Champagny-en-Vanoise, with a superb major altarpiece gilded in gold leaf and adorned with cherubs.

Music lovers will appreciate the concerts given during the Tarentaise Baroque Festival from 25 July to 14 August 2022.

An original way to discover the world of Savoyard baroque is the sensory tours with the Fondation Facim, which you can find all summer in Montalbert, Montgésin and Champagny-en-Vanoise. The world of Street Art in Moutiers

Immerse yourself in the exotic, colourful world of street art on the Moutiers Street-art trail, near La Plagne. Around forty monumental murals, stencils, graffiti or collages colour the streets of the former capital of Tarentaise for an unusual visit with family or friends.

La Plagne’s music festival: Musi’ Plagne

The free Musi Plagne concerts take place every Wednesday evening of the summer, from 6 July to 31 August 2022, in the villages of La Plagne. Find below the programme of the 9 concerts on offer in varied musical styles:

  • On 6 July at 4pm: Laurent Renou’s traditional ensemble of brass and alphorns performs in the exceptional setting of the Dou du Pra plateau in Plagne Soleil. Appearing in the 14th century, the alphorn was once used to communicate over distances in the mountains, as the sound can travel long distances by echoing through the valleys.
  • On 13 July 2022 at 6.30pm: rap fans will be delighted with the concert event of French rapper Tiakola, performing exceptionally in Savoie.
  • On 20 July 2022 at 6.30pm in Montchavin-les-Coches: catch the open stage for young talents with the Plagno Voice concert, with soloists, duets or amateur groups in varied musical genres.
  • On 27 July – 6.30pm at the Côte d’Aime stadium: the rockabilly band Spuniboys takes you into 1960s culture with a concert of infectious energy.
  • On 3 August: Concert event of the trio Bon Entendeur DJ set, who share their passion for music and French culture, mixing on the theme of personalities from the world of entertainment and culture (authors, actors, artists…). “Bon Entendeur is a trio that listens. That lends an ear. That dresses up the message to make it truer, stronger, more interesting […] To dance intelligently.” France Inter, 13.01.17. To be found at the Vanoise Express departure area in Les Coches.
  • On 7 August at the Macot lake (La Plagne Tarentaise leisure base): electro concert by La Bringue – French-touch electro fanfare. The 7 artists reclaim electro hits in a popular party spirit.
  • On 24 August at 6.30pm, catch the talented clarinettist Francis Tropini, who was solo clarinettist for 35 years at the Toulouse National Orchestra. He performs in trio format at the Macot La Plagne community hall.
  • And finally, the summer will end with classical music on 31/08 at 6.30pm with a String Quartet and clarinet for Mozart’s Quintet at the Bellentre Library.

The 1st Marathon des Alpes

The 1st Marathon des Alpes takes place on 15 May 2022 between the communes of Macôt-la-Plagne, Aime and Bourg-Saint-Maurice. The undulating course of small ridges runs along small tarmac country roads, crossing woods and following the Isère.

The Super 8 mountain bike race

The Super 8 race brings together champions and fans of downhill mountain biking and electric MTB from 7 to 10 July 2022. The 100 km “Grand 8” event is reserved for experts and elites for 2 days of racing with bivouac. As an amateur, you can sign up for the “Double 8” with events from 23 to 82 km.

The legendary trail race: the 6000D

The 6000D race takes place from 28 to 30 July 2022. 32nd edition of this 67 km mountain trail, with 3,400 m of positive ascent from the apple trees to the glacier. At the last edition, 1,978 racers set off across all events. A truly legendary race to live or watch!
