1 – The comfort of the Méribel summer chalets

A chalet rental in Méribel in summer is of course more affordable than in winter. In summer, you can take the opportunity to access spacious chalets with a comfort worthy of a luxury hotel and the advantage of having the privacy of a private chalet for your family.

With preserved architecture giving pride of place to old wood and stone, the chalets in Méribel transport you into a warm, authentic environment. In addition, most of the chalets are equipped with spa or wellness areas prized by families, such as pool, jacuzzi or sauna.

For more comfort, you can also opt for a premium service with our chalet catering offer: our partner head chef can prepare and deliver breakfasts, snacks and dinners with local flavours directly to the chalet — enough to delight your whole family.

2 – Méribel summer with the family discovering nature

At the gateway to the Vanoise National Park, Méribel opens up access to the Plan de Tuéda nature reserve, which extends across the Trois Vallées area (Les Ménuires, Méribel and Courchevel), in the commune of Les Allues, in Tarentaise, over 1,112 hectares.  With the altitude varying from 1,650 m to 3,153 m, it favours the diversity of fauna and flora, with 545 plant species and around 400 animal species present. If you are lucky, you will come across some marmots or ibex, for example.

Hiking is the simplest way to discover the mountain as a family. Don’t hesitate to call on a mountain guide who will introduce it to you in a fascinating way.

You will also be able to observe the pastures and visit the Beaufort cheese maker, such as the one at the Lac de Tuéda (visit to the maker only accompanied by a mountain guide whom we can recommend).

Don’t miss the Traye educational farm either, which will delight children. They can discover the work of bees, pedigree sheep, dwarf goats or long-haired donkeys, while the grown-ups can enjoy the superb view from the terrace of the traditional restaurant.

Near Méribel, the Chez Pépé Nicolas alpage farm in Val Thorens has been a true institution for several generations. You can witness the daily life of the alpine farmers, watch the manual milking of goats and the mechanised milking of cows, and discover cheese-making.

Don’t miss the Fête à Fanfoué on 2 August 2026 at Méribel les Allues either, to discover the charm of rural tradition.

3 – Méribel summer culture as a family

Traditional festivities in Méribel

The French national day on 14 July 2026 will be celebrated with a fireworks display and a ball in the village of Les Allues.

The traditional Vallée des Allues festival, the Fête à Fanfoué, is held for the 54th year on 2 August 2026. You will have a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the wealth of local culture and heritage, with on the programme: pedal-powered carousel, chainsaw sculptures, bread baking in the village oven, alphorn and hunting horn players, many art and craft exhibitors, sales of local products and also and above all the float parade of the valley’s sports and cultural associations…

The baroque trails in Méribel

The baroque trails were created in 1992 for the Albertville Olympic Games. They bring together 80 sites of Savoie Baroque art. Crisscross the various villages and hamlets of Méribel to discover the charming chapels with frescoed walls. By discovering these well-preserved jewels of Savoie heritage, you will discover the harsh life of the mountain folk in the 17th and 18th centuries, who sold their products — including their cheeses — to fund the embellishment of their places of worship.

In the main town of Méribel, in the village of Les Allues, you can find this very special spirit in the Saint-Martin church in Les Allues, rebuilt in 1698. The decor is carved in arolla pine, a wood typical of the resort that has the particular feature of preserving very well.

Just above the church is the Les Allues museum, which tells the history of the valley and the resort, and the traditional bread oven still used for certain events (Fête à Fanfoué — see below, Ski World Cup, etc.). The chance for you to discover a traditional mountain atmosphere near your chalet rental in Méribel.

Music lovers and the curious can also discover the world of Savoyard baroque in an original way through the sensory tours with the Fondation Facim, which you can find all summer in Champagny-en-Vanoise near Méribel.

4 – Family activities in Méribel summer

No fewer than around thirty mountain, wellness or sporty activities await you in Méribel summer, for every taste, fitness level and of course children’s ages. From age 5 or 6, children can start to discover white-water activities with baby-rafting suited to their young age. Older ones can do rafting on longer, more technical trails and discover canyoning or hydrospeed.

Aerial activities (paragliding, climbing, via ferrata, etc.) are generally accessible from age 7.

For slightly more demanding activities, it’s better to wait until age 12 for a bike descent in the Méribel Bike Park, on a downhill mountain bike or electric MTB, or on a deval bike — a kind of downhill scooter.

You can enjoy as a family the zen activities of mountain yoga, contemplative or sporty hikes such as the walks around Lac de Tuéda, or a night at the Saut refuge.
